Supporting Caribbean conservationists: please contribute to my fundraising effort for BirdsCaribbean!

Dear Readers, I have just set up a page on the “Give Butter” fundraising site, with the aim of raising US$500 (or if possible, more) over the next two and half days, in support of our beloved Caribbean birds. If you would like to contribute, I would be truly grateful! Whatever you do give will be matched by a generous donor (so if you give us $25, that will be $50!) By the way, $25 will pay for a field guide and training manual. BirdsCaribbean has been continuously working during 2022 to train and educate young Caribbean conservationists at all levels to help protect the birds on their islands. You can read more here. Funds raised will help us reach more people – to help the birds.

Our environment is rapidly changing; anyone who is close to the land (or even urban dwellers) can see this. The impacts of climate change impacts are worsening in our region. At the recent COP15 (the UN Biodiversity Summit) the Inter-Governmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services produced a report which noted that “Nature is declining globally at rates unprecedented in human history.” So, we need to protect our birds by protecting and restoring the ecosystems they depend on.

Here is the link to my fundraising page. You can donate as little as $10 – or if you are feeling generous, there is not upper limit! I would be so grateful, thank you!
