Two very important organizations are moving house very soon – and both need help. If you can provide any kind of assistance, please do contact them directly.
Firstly, the Jamaica Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (JSPCA) – 112 years old – has been given notice to quit the location it has occupied for the last twenty years. A Supreme Court order has given them notice to leave the Government-owned premises by not later than November 1, 2015. They have not yet found a place… They are hoping to find somewhere reasonably central in Kingston, and they have 200 animals, a pharmacy and a clinic. Director Pamela Lawson says she cannot turn animals away, and of course does not want to close altogether. Their situation is getting desperate, however, as their deadline approaches.

And here’s a notice from the Jamaica Environment Trust (JET), which will be leaving the lovely old-fashioned house (one of the very few old houses left on Waterloo Road) with the spreading mango trees for a new office.
JET has to leave our current office at 11 Waterloo Road, Kingston 10. We have rented an office space at 123 Constant Spring Road, unit 5, Kingston 8, and have dubbed it Earth Cottage. We hope to move in by the end of June 2015. Please help us to fund the many costs of this unbudgeted move – any donation, however small, will help.
