Caribbean Environment Week 2020 kicks off tomorrow – Monday, November 9. Have you registered yet? (It’s free). It’s quick and easy to register at the Live ECCO website here.
The one-hour introductory session tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. Jamaican time (we are on the same time as EST) will include welcome remarks from Live ECCO and Environmental Solutions Limited (the organizers of this inaugural sustainability festival). Mr. Vincent Sweeney, an incredibly knowledgeable man who is head of the Caribbean Sub-Regional Office of the United Nations Environment Programme, based in Kingston, will be the special guest. He will give the week a good, solid start.

Then for the lunch hour session at 1:00 p.m. Jamaican time, we will be hearing the voices of youth: Eleanor Terrelonge, Founder & Director of the Jamaica Climate Change Youth Council (JCCYC) will sit down with two members of the Caymanian youth environmental action group, Protect Our Future: Ben Somerville, President, and Dejea Lyons, Vice President.

What are the youth concerns on climate change and the environment? What would they like to see? What are their plans for the future? And what actions are they taking today?

Mark your calendars, and take a look at what the remaining days of fascinating conversations from around the Caribbean and beyond have in store, at this link. You will find it is time well spent – for our environment.
