I found the last Weekly Photo Challenge rather difficult, because it could be – well anything unusual. When I take photos, I don’t usually say to myself: “Oh, that’s unusual!” I am not necessarily looking for the unusual. Sometimes, though, it just happens. Here are a few examples: an unusually carved chair, a surprising hairstyle (Jamaican hairstyles often surprise me – both men’s and women’s!); the unusual behaviour of a group of birds that I still ponder over; and some unusual names of plants. Hope you find this collection piques your curiosity!
This chair (I think by Mr. Gilbert Nicely, a highly creative and artistic man) is beautiful to me because it is unusual. We have a few of his pieces.
Smooth-Billed Anis are unusual birds. They are related to the cuckoo family. They are large, black and clumsy and they have communal nests. Until this day, though, I don’t know what they were up to. I took a series of photos in which they appeared to be “mobbing” one of their own, on the ground. It was rather alarming.
At River Bumpkin Farm in Trelawny, several of the trees have name tags. Now, this is an interesting one!
And here’s another odd name – in the kitchen garden at the Rastafari Indigenous Village near Montego Bay.
I like unusual hairstyles. This was on Daniel Pearl Music Day at the U.S. Embassy, a couple of years ago.

Yes, I agree, that the “unusual” title is often attached after taking the photo…sometimes long after…

It’s true! Funny how things don’t necessarily appear strange at the time!
