Applications for Chevening Scholarships in the UK Now Open

The Chevening Scholarships offered by the UK Government are one-year post-graduate scholarships at a UK university. They are offered to Jamaicans with at least two years’ work experience – ambitious young professionals with at least an Upper Second Class degree equivalent. I know of a few Jamaicans who will be heading to “dear old Blighty” as I sometimes laughingly call the land of my birth, in a few weeks’ time. There will be roughly 2,000 grantees from around the world arriving to spend their Chevening year at a UK university. That year will pass quickly, but will I am sure be invaluable.

I will keep my eyes and ears open for further information on such educational and training opportunities for Jamaicans. I have been somewhat remiss in this respect, and unfortunately missed the summer deadlines for the U.S. Fulbright Scholarships. I plan to do better in the future!
