Last Thursday, February 5, the children of Trench Town Reading Centre had special visitors. The Digicel Foundation brought Jo Anderson-Figueroa and Listenmi Caribbean to host an exciting interactive reading and learning session for the children in honour of Bob Marley’s 70th birthday, which was the following day. The visitors also kindly brought books and other donations, which were of course greatly appreciated.

Most of all, they brought fun, enjoyment, learning – and “a genuine care and warmth,” says the Reading Centre’s director Roslyn Ellison. It was also a good opportunity for the TrenchTown Knowledge Squad to share their knowledge and show off their creativity. Yes, the children always give as much as they receive (in many ways, more!) They performed an original spoken word piece composed from Bob Marley song titles, written by Tamikee Walsh, for the Centre’s 20th anniversary celebration in 2014.

Thank you so very much for your generosity, Digicel Foundation. Come back and visit soon!
P.S. Listenmi Caribbean says it produces music, audio books and other content to get Caribbean voices into the marketplace. For more information go to http://www.listenmi.com.
