What’s that? Jesus loves me, you say?

Wherever we live in the world, we have probably all had visitors on our doorstep, bearing those old-fashioned looking booklets with highly colored illustrations and eager to engage you in discussion. Yes, the Jehovah’s Witnesses. In Kingston, they are usually in pairs – often a middle-aged woman and a younger man, usually carrying an umbrella to shade them from the sun. My husband usually talks to them; they are quiet, and patient. This is not the kind of thing I blog about, but this wonderful blog post just resonated with me (and made me chuckle a little, too). I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did.

  1. Well you’re fairly accurate about Jesus there’s a few errors in your text. you may know Him, but I am sure I know HIM a little more than your text indicates that you do. I thank you Jesus for saving me! so bit it and it is so

    1. I am so glad Jesus saved you. This is not my writing, by the way – it’s a re-blog from another blog that I follow. I am sure you know him better than I do, anyway. Thanks.

  2. Reblogged this on Spirit In Action and commented:
Thank you for sharing your experience in this and your wisdom. This post could have been written by my Mohawk Mom minus the crossbow since she doesn’t have one:-) but she used to talk to the Jehovah’s witnesses and other proselytizers much the same way. I am forever grateful for the way she raised us to see that truth doesn’t live in anyone’s box but flies free touching all and only our own wounds and prejudice prevent us seeing it clearly.

    1. I thought this was a marvelous post and I thank you for your comments. What resonated so much is that it is not (or should not be) about books and doctrine. Speaking from our heart is always best. Thank you for your lovely comments.

      1. That was my favourite part too! I’ve always felt that Jesus was about Love not doctrine. I always thank the JW’s for taking their time to try to help others but that since I am clergy converting me is impossible;-) I figure those who are on drugs, depressed or whatever other
        problems they may
        be facing, that any
        spiritual person who
        reaches out may help
them to set their foot on the good red road. Even if they don’t choose the
        proselytizers religion
        long term.
        Thank
